The charm of Singapore is that it is a melting pot of cultures and traditions, that combined create a unique exercise in contrasts. You can find traditional temples and buildings that are true to their cultures, and contrastingly the ultra-modern skyscrapers and architectural innovation of Marina Bay Sans and the Gardens by the Bay domes. The modern style of Singapore often consists of sharp geometrical angles. These geometrical structures create an alluring combination of Western and Eastern influences, which are evident in much of Singapore’s culture. As a result Singapore can be described as a city where East meets West. Our brand aims to fuse elements of Singapore’s culture with our own cultural elements to create abstract patterns that represent a mix of cultural heritage and an interesting juxtaposition of ethnic backgrounds.

SPOTTED: GEOMETRIC JEWELLERY
Found in a niche shop in the Arab Quarter, these geometric pieces perfectly align with our branding, and provide great inspiration for unusual geometric forms.
JONES KNOWLES RITCHIE (JKR)
In the National Design Centre we were given a presentation by Katie and intern Frankie, who work for London-based design company Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR). JKR are experts in packaging, branding and the visual articulation of brands, and Katie provided us with some inspiring examples of how rebranding companies so they stand out can have a great effect on that company.
SINGAPORE ART MUSEUM (SAM)
On day 10 we visited the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) to view their ongoing exhibition People and Places, along with their current exhibition Unearthed, an exhibition that investigates the relationship with Earth and the natural world, and how artists in Singapore view and respond to it, considering how they have grown up living in such an urban environment. This exhibition also presents works where art is fused with other disciplines and modalities.
SINGAPORE PHILATELIC MUSEUM
Following the SAM exhibition, we found the Singapore Philatelic Museum, a museum about postal history with a huge stamp collection. It also happened to be running A League Against Evil: A DC Superheroes Exhibition. The exhibition was a great example of effective branding across multiple mediums, and it also provided some market stall structure inspiration.
